I made this Opal pendant necklace recently. Flat Sterling silver slightly textured and a natural opal. The pendant hangs from a Sterling rolo chain.

That's lovely, Irith. It has that rustic, organic style of yours that I like so much. Reminds me of the jewelry that's found in the southwestern United States and that is made by the Indian tribes that are from that area, except that they usually use turquoise in their designs. Dawn

Thank you Dawn. I love the tribal turquoise jewelry you mentioned. Could be I am subconsciously influenced? anyway - I have always loved tribal.

It's possible, Irith. I think all of us experience being influenced by the things we see even, though we don't realize it when we make our designs. Dawn

Thank you Michele:) I have many stones and I get to think lately, that perhaps when a stone is exceptional, I should design something which will enhance it's beauty, rather than over-design. Of course, it also depends on the things that inspire me...

I quite agree with you Dawn. It is one thing when someone copies someone else's art, but when we create something we enjoy making and the result reminds people of a certain style, it shows that something of our own mind or soul is added to it.
