I'm going to try heating copper to color it. But I tried to find the recent discussion about what folks put on it to keep it from reverting to plain ol' copper color. I'm now thinking this discussion took place on the old SJA because a search here doesn't turn up anything. I've used Renaissance Wax but the smell was awful but someone said that goes away (I think). Others sprayed it with a paint coating (maybe) and I'm not sure but someone said so far their's hadn't changed at all. So, if you have any help I'd really appreciate it.

Renaissance wax will wear off over time. I didn't clean my pieces well enough when I tried it and wound up sealing in fingerprints. I suggest handing with gloves I've heard of some folks (doing decorative housewares and yard ornaments) loving this stuff called Permalac.

Angela, thanks, you're a doll! This is exactly the discussion I remembered but it didn't come up in a search with "wax" or "Renaissance wax" as paraameters.

I think I used "patina" as my search parameter....and it's my pleasure.
