I hope some of you can help me here. We need to ship some audio equipment to the States and to Canada. And it is going on a pro forma invoice, because it's a test project. I'm trying to find out at from what value and more I have to pay taxes in the US and in Canada. What is the amount that has to go on the invoice so the receiver doesn't have to pay? Help would be much appreciated.

Well, darn. I'm sorry I can't help.
I asked my hubby who has some experience with shipping. He suggested you check with the people you are shipping to.

That's a possibility, I'm not sure if they know the answer, but then if they get it wrong they are the ones who have to pay the VAT.

Don't feel bad, I have big problems finding the same info about the dutch taxes. Hubby said he would send it with $10,-- non commercial invoice that that should work too. Thank you for thinking with me.

Dawn AAAHhhhhh We have that list too. You need a degree to understand all that. In my country it is very simple. till €22,-- it's free from €22.-- till €150,-- you only pay tax everything above will be charged with a percentage of the value according the Tariff Shedule.

Including postage which I always thought was a shame Who understands customs, anyway. My sister once got two Peanuts Christmas ornaments from the US, the total was more than 150 €. Customs fee were different, though. One was Charlie Brown, he was categorized as home decor, the other was Snoopy, he was more expensive because he's an "animal"! No joke. I wish I could help you, Carina, but I think you would probably have to know how the US categorizes exactly what you want to send. Good luck!
