Not sure if this the right term. I would like to use a couple of magnetic clasps but the pattern description says you can always add one. I've never done this before. Does it go in between the magnets or on the bottom? I've never felt comfortable using only a magnetic clasp (one of those gals who talks with her hands and usually winds up catching things with bracelets and watches).

Oh, cool. I never knew there was such a thing. I've used magnetic clasps on bracelets before. They're pretty powerful and I've never had a problem with them... Just my 2 pennies worth.

I used magnetic clasps before, too. I pulled and tugged and they seemed just fine, but guess what, I managed to have them open anyway. If you are someone who is good at getting the same door handle (we don't have knobs here) into your t-shirt sleeve again and again, I wouldn't recommend magnetic clasps, either. I think it really depends on how klutzy you are, so I would go for the safety snaps.

I'm confused. Magnetic clasps come with safety latches; like Michele linked to but you buy those. You don't attach them your self.
I think you're referring to adding a 'safety' chain so that if the clasp does come un-done/pull apart there is a safety chain that is "just" long enough; so the bracelet wont fall off the widest part of the hand. It gives you a moment to grab the bracelet...I always use a "safety" chain anytime I use a magnetic clasp. To me it's a part of 'proper' technique. I don't attach the chain to the clasp. I attach it to the bracelet; where I've crimped the stringing wire/loop&coil/chain/etc.

Sorry about the rubbish picture but here is one I have myself that I made several years ago and they do work as I have caught it a couple of times and the safety chain prevented a loss of the bracelet.

Kevin, I didn't even notice that Michele had that link. Lotty, that's a lovely solution. And yes I catch door handles on things all the time. My problem is that my wrist is on the small side and most of the very pretty clasps take up so much length that if I adjusted a pattern it wouldn't look right. I prefer toggles but there's that added length again. I think a safety chain, chain or beaded, would work because from what I can see the magnetic clasps aren't very long.
(Don't you love having so many folks answer questions from their experience?)
